Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG -- Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) scored twice to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey to a 3-1 win over East Stroudsburg on Wednesday. The game originally started on Tuesday, but was called due to bad weather and darkness and resumed on Wednesday.

Vanartsdalen's two goals give her 65 points for the season (25 goals and 15 assists) setting a new Bloomsburg single-season mark for points. She broke the mark of 63 set by Denise Miller in the 1991 season and also moved to within two points of Miller's career points mark of 174.

The Huskies got on the board first (Tuesday) when Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) scored off an Amy Gilbert (Duncannon/Susquenita) assist 16 minutes into the game. The Warriors tied the score 10 minutes when Monica Gombita scored off a Brittany Kocis assist.

Early in the second half Vanartsdalen scored her first goal with Chelsea Due (Pen Argyl/Pen Argyl) getting the assist. Bloomsburg added an insurance goal when Vanartsdalen scored again in the 50th minute of play.

Bloomsburg is now 13-2, 9-2 in the PSAC, while East Stroudsburg falls to 6-9, 3-8 in the PSAC. The Huskies host Seton Hill University on Thursday night at 6 p.m.
